John, the Child Tax Credit is back in the spotlight - take action now! [[link removed]]

In Tuesday’s debate the Child Tax Credit was the topic of discussion, and in recent days candidates from both parties have talked about the need for expansion.

But there’s no reason to wait until after Election Day - a bill to expand the Child Tax Credit is ready for the Senate to vote on right now . It has already passed the House of Representatives in a rare, broad, bipartisan 357-70 vote, and many Senators have already made their support clear.

The Senate is back in session this week, and we need your help to ensure Senators hear a loud, clear message from people across the country: it’s time to pass a Child Tax Credit expansion!

Right now many families living in poverty earn “too little” to qualify for the Child Tax Credit , an absurd situation where the families who need this support the most are being left out. For families earning just $15,000 a year, an expansion of the Child Tax Credit will put money directly into their pockets - and the impact for their kids is enormous.

Just-released Census Bureau data showed that when the Child Tax Credit was expanded during the pandemic, it lifted 2.4 million people above the federal poverty line . And analysis shows that if the expanded Child Tax Credit included in the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act was passed, it would lift 500,000 children above the poverty line in tax year 2025!

Expanding the Child Tax Credit is a vital step in reducing child poverty, but it’s not a full solution. It doesn’t address the ongoing childcare crisis, which continues to burden families across the country. However, it’s a necessary step in the right direction, offering immediate financial relief to families who need it most.

While the legislation to expand the Child Tax Credit, as part of a broader tax package, stalled a few weeks ago in negotiations, there’s still MONTHS to go in this congressional session, there’s bipartisan support in Congress, and with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act set to expire next year, Senators will likely be voting on the Child Tax Credit sooner or later.

That’s where we come in. With the spotlight shining on this critical tool to fight poverty, we need our Senators to hear that we want them to pass a Child Tax Credit expansion – add your name now! [[link removed]]

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
