Israeli special forces reportedly carried out a surprise raid on an underground Iranian-built missile factory in Syria earlier this week.
The operation involved troops from Israel's elite Sayeret Matkal unit who successfully entered the weapons facility, removed key equipment and documents, rigged the site with explosives, and destroyed it before withdrawing under air cover.
Israeli commandos reportedly used explosives they brought with them in order to blow up the underground facility, including sophisticated machinery, from inside.
The IDF has not commented on the reports.
An Axios report today said that Israel briefed the White House in advance of the sensitive operation, and the U.S. didn't oppose it. The outlet also reported that Israeli security officials had been monitoring the factory for more than five years.
The Iranian regime is arming, funding, and training its terror proxies across the region, emboldening them to attack Israel.
Israel's offensive capabilities enabled this surprise raid and dealt "a significant blow" to Iran's ability to produce precision-guided missiles on Syrian soil.

The military now maintains control of the entire city and the Philadelphi Corridor which runs along the Gaza-Egypt border.
Israeli combat engineers have located 203 separate, interconnected tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor, most of which have now been destroyed. Nine underground tunnels were confirmed to cross into Egyptian territory.
America must continue to stand with Israel as it fights to destroy Hamas' capabilities and free the 101 hostages still in captivity.
9 Hamas terrorists killed in IDF airstrike, including three UNRWA staffers
This week, the IDF carried out airstrikes on a Hamas cell operating inside a school in central Gaza.
Today the military released the names of nine Hamas terrorists, including UNRWA employees, who were eliminated in the strike.
"Upon receiving reports claiming that local Palestinian UNRWA workers were killed as a result of the strike, the IDF requested that the agency provide details and names of the workers, in order to thoroughly review the claim," the IDF said. "To date, no answers have been provided by UNRWA despite repeated requests."
"This is a further example of the Hamas terrorist organization’s systematic abuse of civilian infrastructure and violations of international law."
