This year, MPAC proudly recognizes Senator Bernie Sanders with the Lifetime Achievement Award. A steadfast ally of the American Muslim community, Senator Sanders has consistently supported our shared values. His strong opposition to President Trump’s Muslim Ban and his compassionate stance during one of our nation's darkest moments brought hope to many.
Since October 7th, Senator Sanders has been a leading voice against President Biden’s unwavering support for Israel's ongoing siege of Gaza. He notably secured a Senate vote calling for the State Department to report on potential human rights violations by the Israeli government in Gaza. His outspoken support for students protesting Israel’s actions on college campuses — despite facing false accusations of antisemitism and support for Hamas — has been especially significant. Senator Sanders’ decades of public service embodies MPAC’s core values of human dignity, justice, mercy, and equality and equity for all.
From government officials to grassroots advocates, MPAC has honored many influential leaders, including pioneering civil rights leader Representative John Lewis, Nobel Peace Prize laureates Muhammad Yunus and Shirin Ebadi, and actors George Takei and Morgan Freeman.
Join us for an unforgettable evening as we continue to honor those who inspire action and drive meaningful change. More details on programming and additional honorees will be announced soon!
