Hi John,
This is your chance to push back against equalization.
Politicians like to make equalization complicated. But it’s simple. It sends about $25 billion to provincial governments in Manitoba, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. A bit goes to Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador, but a lot less than taxpayers there pay.
Here’s the kicker: Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan get nothing but bills from the equalization program.
That’s not fair.
Equalization is unfair for taxpayers who pay into it but don’t receive anything back. It’s even worse for provinces collecting the money because it creates dependence and discourages economic growth. And the only thing that’s changed with equalization for decades is that politicians keep pouring more money into it.
Here’s the first step for you to join the fight against equalization: signing the PETITION to tell the government to phase out equalization.
Will you sign the petition?
Equalization is unfair for taxpayers who pay into it but don’t receive anything back. It encourages poor governance in the recipient provinces.
The federal government should reduce the size of equalization payments to phase out the program.
We, the undersigned, call on the prime minister to phase out equalization.
- No – I’d rather not sign the petition today (if you want to tell us why, click here)

After you sign the petition, keep an eye on your email inbox. This is a huge fight. We will let you know when you have a good opportunity to fight against the unfair equalization program.
Thank you for fighting for taxpayers – you’re making a difference!
All the best,
Carson Binda, CTF British Columbia Director
