Tonight, I’m debating my Republican opponent for the first time since I
became the Democratic nominee to represent Delaware in Congress — and I’m
jumping out of debate prep to send this.
To show our strength, our campaign just set an ambitious goal to bring in
250 grassroots donations before I take the stage.

I call Delaware a “state of neighbors,” and I’m excited to take the stage
to share with my neighbors why I’m fighting for paid family and medical
leave, affordable child care, gun safety and reproductive freedom, and how
I’ll fight for them in Washington every single day.
But we can’t ignore the threat from our opponent, the right-wing media,
and super PACs: They’re raising money in the hopes of drowning out all of
that and making us scared of our differences instead of empowered by them.
I know that through the power of our proximity, we can fight back against
the culture wars, open some of the most closed-off hearts and minds, and
break through some of the perverse, base incentives in our politics.
