Trump and Harris Must Weigh In on the Dangers of Iranian Influence
In this week’s highly watched Presidential debate, one vital topic that was only lightly touched on was the escalating threat that the Iranian regime presents — to the United States, to Israel and to the world. So, we want to share this important column by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt that appeared in the Times of Israel, calling for more attention to be paid to stopping Tehran and its terrorist proxies. Here is an excerpt:
How will the candidates handle the intensifying danger of the Islamic Republic of Iran? It’s not news that the Iranian regime is a global threat to the Jewish people. That’s been the case for decades. But it is news that Tehran is vastly expanding its campaign against America while it races toward building a nuclear weapon...
For decades, Tehran has cultivated a network of terror proxies across the Middle East with a shared ideology of anti-Jewish bigotry. It rests on a few key planks — dehumanizing Israelis, rationalizing antisemitism and working actively to destroy the Jewish state.
The results are a bloody trail of deadly acts and foiled plots against Israeli interests and Jewish sites around the world... And, of course, the Iranian regime directly assisted Hamas for years and contributed directly to the horrific brutality, mass kidnapping and genocidal violence on 10/7...
Now the regime is targeting US presidential candidates — the very individuals we are voting on to lead our country... It is long overdue for a fact-based, non-partisan, reasoned conversation as to how we should confront and curb this rogue state before it obtains nuclear weapons and expands its militarism any further.
The candidates must be pressed for concrete plans. We need honest policies rooted in reality.

“Summer of Hate” Report: From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the ADL Center on Extremism tracked a high level of white supremacist activity that included paramilitary-style marches, demonstrations, “fight nights,” propaganda drives and disruption of public forums across the country. This propaganda was primarily antisemitic, anti-Zionist and anti-immigrant, with a spike in anti-LGBTQ+ activity and messaging during Pride month in June.

Israeli Tech vs Online Antisemitism: Amid a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents worldwide online and offline, the

“Hack the Hate: Israeli Tech Against Online Antisemitism” Conference brought together leaders from across technology, education, civil society and government spaces earlier this week to discuss innovative ideas to leverage Israel’s robust tech sector to fight the surge of online antisemitism. Carole Nuriel, ADL’s Senior Regional Director for Israel and MENA, was one of the opening speakers. At this event in Tel Aviv, she presented on the main challenges in fighting online hate and shared ADL’s policy recommendations and insights into our effective work in the field, including solutions to reduce the spread of disinformation and fake news.
