The Village has hired Curtis Cassidy as its incoming public works director. Cassidy will work alongside the Village’s current Public Works Director Jennifer Hughes before she retires in April 2025.
Cassidy will also oversee the Village’s Public Works team that provides key services including road repairs, brush and leaf collections, snow and ice removal, and water line maintenance. He brings more than 17 years of public works experience in the public sector, most recently as the public works director for the City of Mesquite, Texas, a fast-growing community of 150,000 residents where he has been responsible for oversight of water and wastewater infrastructure, as well as engineering, traffic, GIS, street maintenance, fleet and solid waste collection. If you know a high school junior or senior at Oswego High School or Oswego East High School, let them know that the Village is seeking motivated students to join our local commissions.
This role offers an incredible opportunity for students to contribute to meaningful discussions and have their perspectives considered on important community issues. Public Works will begin the final free brush collection of the season on September 30 in Zone A and will begin in Zone B on October 7. View the brush collection zone map and learn more.
For the best service, place all brush at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday morning of the designated week for your zone, but no earlier than noon the Friday before. Pile brush neatly so that the ends of the branches are all facing the same direction. Do not put brush in a container or in the street.

Help the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) understand travel trends in and around our community by participating in the "My Daily Travel" survey launching in mid-September. Select households will receive a letter from CMAP. We encourage you to share your daily or weekly travel activity through an app, online form or over the phone.
Why participate? Your data will help inform future transportation investments and improvements across Oswego and northeastern Illinois. The final data will be available in late 2025, with insights specific to our community. Keep an eye out for a reminder postcard if you're selected. Learn more.
