COVID-19 Updates
Presidential Proclamation on Suspending Immigration to the U.S.
On April 22nd, President Trump issued a proclamation [[link removed]]temporarily
blocking most legal immigration to the United States. Archbishop José Gomez of Los
Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Bishop Mario
E. Dorsonville, auxiliary bishop of Washington and chairman of the USCCB's Committee
on Migration, and Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento and Chairman of CLINIC, issued
a response [[link removed]]
to the Proclamation saying (en Espa [[link removed]]ñ
[[link removed]]ol
[[link removed]]),
"We are extremely concerned about how the proclamation will impact immigrant families
looking to reunify. The proclamation prevents certain immigrant family members from
reuniting with their loved ones living in the United States."

Bishops Issue Pastoral Statement of Support for Migrant Farmworkers
Archbishop Pérez of Philadelphia and chairman of the USCCB Committee on Cultural
Diversity in the Church, Bishop Tyson of Yakima, chairman of the Subcommittee on
Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers (PCMRT), Bishop Cantú of San Jose,
PCMRT's episcopal liaison for migrant farmworker ministry, and Bishop Dorsonville,
Committee on Migration chairman, issued a statement [[link removed]]
on April 28th in support of migrant farmworkers during COVID-19 stating, "We urge
our political leaders and policymakers to consider the realities and pressing needs
of the farmworker communities across the country during this time of the coronavirus
outbreak. To defeat the virus, no one must be left out (en Espa [[link removed]]ñ

Rosary For Vulnerable People on the Move
On April 20th, JFI issued a daily Rosary for Vulnerable People on the Move. [[link removed]]

provides reflections on various vulnerable migrant populations, directions on how
to pray the Rosary, and text for the prayers.

COVID-19 Assistance Package "3.5" Passed
On April 23rd, Congress passed a $484 billion COVID-19 "Phase 3.5" stimulus package
which provides $25 billion for COVID-19 testing, but excludes undocumented immigrants

JFI Action Alert on Migration Priorities in COVID-19 Relief Package #4
Please fill out our action alertto let lawmakers know that protections for immigrants
and refugees need to be included in the next COVID-19 relief package. Here is the
message you will be sending to your Senators and Representative:
Reminder on DACA
We are still waiting on the Supreme Court decision on the legality of ending of
DACA, which may be issued soon. When the decision is announced, we will have resources
ready for your use to advocate to protect Dreamers. Again, here is our SAVE THE
DATE for a JFI webinar at 2 PM Eastern on the day after the SCOTUS decision is issued.

MRS is proud to be a founding member of the #AllofUS campaign which is highlighting
the contributions of immigrants and refugees to the healthcare system as they battle
