[1]Eugene Vindman for Congress

Hi there,

It’s Ken Burns. I am coming to you with a heartfelt request: If you, like me, are deeply concerned about the future of our democracy and the rising tide of extremism, I urge you to join me in supporting Eugene Vindman’s campaign for Congress today.

As a filmmaker, my life’s work has been dedicated to capturing pivotal moments in American history—moments that have shaped our nation’s identity and spirit. I’ve documented our country navigating through its darkest hours and emerging stronger and understand the profound consequences of these moments.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen our nation evolve in countless ways, but one constant remains: our democracy, the cornerstone of our republic, and the essence of what it means to be American.

Yet, at this very moment, our democracy faces an unprecedented challenge — a critical inflection point. We are at a juncture where our very rights and freedoms are threatened.

The stakes have never been higher. Our democracy stands at a crossroads — and this moment requires leaders who will unify our country in defense of the very fabric of our nation — no matter political party or affiliation. Eugene Vindman is one of those leaders.

I first met Eugene and Alex nearly 40 years ago, when I interviewed the Vindman twins and their grandmother for a documentary about the meaning of the Statue of Liberty. It was shortly after they fled Soviet Ukraine and sought refuge in the United States as children.

Their father came to the U.S. with $759 in his pocket, three children, and a dream of giving them a better life. And through hard work and perseverance, they achieved just that.

Eugene’s story is the embodiment of the American dream. He is a Ukrainian immigrant, an Army Veteran, and a lifelong defender of our democracy. He’s a good man — one who has devoted himself to defending our country with courage, selflessness, and resilience, even at his own expense.

We need people like Eugene in Congress—leaders who will stand up for our democracy and represent the true spirit of America. It would mean a lot to me if you could support his campaign today.

Can you please donate whatever you can afford to Eugene Vindman’s campaign for Congress today? I am asking because it is critical.

We are at a turning point for our country, one that will be studied and looked back on for decades to come. And when we look back, we want to be proud of the leaders we elected to safeguard our values and fight for our freedoms.

Thank you for supporting Eugene’s campaign.
