If you know anything about me, then you know I will defend American manufacturing and Michigan’s working families with everything I have.

Manufacturing is not only the economic engine of the Midwest, it’s the heart of our district. Oakland County alone has a GDP larger than 14 states.

So when I heard Trump launch a broadside about Chinese electric vehicles and call for tariffs, I immediately thought of the hardworking Americans punished for his inability to think past the room in front of him.

As a member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the House, I am constantly assessing how we can strengthen our position with China and make sure American workers aren’t the ones to pay the price of weak foreign policy.

What we really need is a balanced relationship with China — one that relies less on imports, and more on supporting our own automotive suppliers, advanced manufacturers, and working families. And thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, we’re in a position of prosperity.

I will not stand by while Trump makes weak and shortsighted claims. I’m eager to continue the work to enhance our global competitiveness and security, and create a US-China dynamic that doesn’t harm Michigan families.

But to keep going, I need to defend my seat in Congress and help elect VP Harris, Coach Walz, and other Michigan Democrats to join the fight.
