MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that the fall issue of Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine is now available in print and online. Get set to enjoy autumn in Wisconsin with the latest issue.
Hunting takes center stage on the magazine cover and inside, including a comprehensive look at duck hunting. Find season dates, bag limit information and a colorful guide to ducks you might see in the state, from mallards to mergansers. Dates for all other hunting seasons are listed in the magazine as well.
Meanwhile, “Join the hunt” highlights efforts to bring hunting opportunities to everyone, especially through mentoring pursuits and expanding access to hunting on public lands.
If hiking and exploring the outdoors are your things, read “Falling for Green Bay” for a list of area activities. Or check out “Leaves & lagers,” a look at several places to visit for an autumn hike followed by a refreshing cold beverage nearby. The magazine even covers first-aid tips to help if needed when you’re out and about.
Wildlife lovers will appreciate several stories in this issue, including: “Flight of the falcon,” focusing on the recovery of peregrine falcons in the state; “Animals of the night,” spotlighting nocturnal creatures; and “Wild ride for Wisconsin turkeys,” showcasing how reintroduction efforts succeeded in bring the bird back after it disappeared from the state.
Fall brings another school year, and two magazine stories are on board. Find out how educators use the Snapshot Wisconsin trail camera program in their classrooms to teach “Lessons in nature,” or read “School of rock” to learn about state geology.
Recycling myths get busted in this issue, setting the record straight on what works best, and there’s a look at the Endangered Resources license plate, which is celebrating 30 years on the road to benefit state conservation programs. There’s much more in the fall issue, too – even glow-in-the-dark mushrooms!
