Hi John - it’s Bayly, Chief of Staff at Voters of Tomorrow.

The last few weeks have been WILD for me: I attended my first-ever DNC, was interviewed by the New York Times, started my senior year of high school, and now, I’m turning 17 years old!

It may not be a typical birthday week for a high school student, but I’m so proud that I get to help fight for my generation, even if I can’t vote for our values myself.

There’s way too much work ahead of us for anybody to sit on the sidelines – even on their birthday. So I’m asking for a present as unorthodox as my life has been lately:

Let’s be honest, John: We’re at a critical moment for our movement. I haven’t even been alive for two whole decades yet, and I’ve already lost track of how many times our political system has failed the people.

We can do better. And my generation is doing better. We see that people can either sit back and let the far-right agenda defeat us, or we can come together as one to defeat the extremists threatening our democracy.

So I’m not taking a day off for my birthday. But to keep up the work, we need YOU in Gen Z’s corner.

I have a lot to do as a 17-year-old: take the SATs, tour colleges, help change the face of elected leadership in America. It may not be typical, but that last point is critical for our country’s future – and I can’t do it without you.
