This week, Congress passed my bill, H.R. 1398, the "Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act." 

This bill creates the CCP Initiative to put a stop to the Chinese Communist Party's aggressive efforts to steal trade secrets and military technology from the United States. It revives a Trump-era program designed to identify and prosecute individuals participating in Chinese espionage. 

For the past decade, the CCP has expanded its intellectual property theft efforts, costing the U.S. economy up to $600 billion annually. In 2017, 2019, and 2020 three CIA operatives transferred critical classified information to agents of the CCP.

Meanwhile, in September of 2020 the U.S. Justice Department charged Chinese hackers with breaching more than 100 companies think tanks, universities, and government agencies around the world. 

Far-left Democrats, like Jerry Nadler, are more concerned with coddling China than in combatting the CCP. Rep. Nadler and others don't want to "offend" China by voting for legislation that targets CCP agents. They were especially outraged when twenty-three vulnerable Democrats voted for my bill despite Joe Biden requesting they not do so.

This bill is a much-needed step toward securing America against communist infiltration, and I will never stop fighting to protect our nation from foreign threats like the CCP.
