Dear friend,

We’ve won big in 2024! We secured protections for Amazon warehouse workers and climate action funded by New York’s worst polluters.

But there’s still much to be done (like getting our Governor to sign those bills into law 😉). Luckily, we don’t do it alone. And that’s what makes our movement so powerful.

For our 2024 Movement Builders Awards, we’re thrilled to be honoring leaders who demonstrate the power of coalition work to make New York a leader in climate and worker justice:

  • President Vincent Perrone of Teamsters Local 804, who have been champions for working people across New York State, building power by organizing Amazon workers and working with ALIGN to raise the minimum wage, combat the abusive practices of big corporations, and win worker protections.

  • NY State Labor Chairs Senator Jessica Ramos and Assemblymember Harry Bronson, steadfast labor leaders and passionate allies to ALIGN’s worker justice coalitions, shepherding landmark legislation to victory, including the Warehouse Worker Injury Reduction Act and the Retail Worker Safety Act, that will protect thousands of New York workers.

  • Benjamin Arana of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), an essential labor voice in the movement to decarbonize New York City’s polluting buildings who is celebrating his retirement this year.

The Movement Builders Awards are ALIGN’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and we rely on contributions from allies like you to fund our year-round work addressing the root causes of racial and economic injustice.

We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the strength of our growing movement.
