Neonicotinoid pesticides, or "neonics," are destroying bee populations.

We need to take a big interest in threats to these tiny insects: Bees pollinate more than 70 out of the 100 crops that make up the majority of our global food supply.1

Saving bees is critical to protecting the future of our farms and our planet, but we can't protect our pollinators without getting neonic use under control.

In most states, you could walk into a Home Depot today and buy a gallon of deadly neonics right off the shelf. We need to urge this massive home improvement retailer to do better.

Take action: Urge Home Depot to stop selling bee-killing neonic pesticides.

Home Depot knows something has to change. The company has already committed to stop selling plants treated with neonics.2

But now it needs to take the next step by taking all neonics off their shelves. Bees are counting on it.

Honeybee keepers reported losing nearly half of their hives last winter in one of the deadliest seasons ever.3 And wild bees are suffering, too: Populations of the rusty-patched bumblebee and western bumblebee are in steep decline, and the American bumblebee has completely disappeared from 8 states where it used to be found.4

Home Depot can help save the bees by taking bee-killing pesticides off its shelves.

We know that when we work together, we can make real progress to cut back on neonic use and save the bees.

Eleven states already have some restrictions on consumer use of bee-killing neonics, and last year, New York became the first state to restrict pesticide-coated seeds -- but there's still work to be done. Home Depot is a national chain, so by urging the company to stop selling neonics we can help put a stop to these toxic pesticides nationwide.

No bees, no food. But one easy step you can take right now to protect bees, our farming system, and the environment is to add your name to our petition to Home Depot. Together, we can put a stop to these toxic pesticides.
