John,

While we must be socially distant right now, our work to protect
transgender people doesn't stop. Lawmakers in Congress recently
passed a new version of the CARES Act that will help Americans
affected by the coronavirus pandemic. However, this bill, like the
ones before it, lacks vital protections for many trans people, and we
must ensure Congress addresses everyone's needs in any relief
plan going forward.

That's why we are asking you to reach out to your member of
Congress and Senators and tell them to pass legislation that:

* Prohibits discrimination in emergency response, health care, and
relief programs.

* Expands unemployment, paid leave, and food assistance for all
who need them.

* Helps protect everyone, no matter their immigration status or
where they work.

* Quickly moves vulnerable people from crowded prisons, jails, and
ICE detention to safe housing.

* Uses every means available for the production of life-saving
medical supplies.

The most vulnerable in our community will be the hardest hit, and our
trans siblings need our help - especially our trans siblings of color.
Trans people are more likely to be in low-wage jobs, homeless,
incarcerated, and living with disabilities - all putting them
more at risk. As trans people are vulnerable to being denied health
care due to discrimination during this public health crisis, we should
remember that if this hurts some of us, it hurts all of us.

Congress needs to return to the table now and protect everyone. And we
will continue to call on them to do so again and again until that
urgent help trans people need is included in any relief bill. The
virus doesn't care about gender, immigration status, state
lines, or prison gates. Until this difficult time passes, we must come
together to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe and healthy.

Tell your representatives they must address this NOW.
