On 9/11, we say never
forget.
Never forget those who were
killed.
Never forget how quickly Democrats
and Republicans joined forces to shred our basic liberties, usher in a
secretive regime of mass surveillance, unconstitutional detention, and
torture, and drag us into illegal wars based on lies that have killed
millions of people and squandered trillions of dollars.
Never forget how millions of us
stood up against the hijacking of our national grief to serve the
neocons’ agenda of global military domination, and how we were ignored
and demonized by the political elite.
Never forget how our Muslim friends
and neighbors were targeted, smeared, surveilled, and falsely charged
with crimes in the name of "protecting our country".
Never forget how “patriotism” was
weaponized to dismantle the First Amendment and crack down on dissent,
journalism, whistleblowers and activists to this day, as we face
ongoing efforts to criminalize our freedom to protest injustice, war
and genocide.
Never forget how both Democrats and
Republicans set us on this course to fascism, which has culminated in
our government openly supporting genocide of the Palestinian
people.
Never forget that being a good
American means having the courage to fight for justice - not “just
following orders”.
Only by standing up to resist both
war parties can we reverse the descent into fascism and win a
peaceful, just, livable future for our children.
