John, millions of Americans rely on and benefit from social safety-nets such as supplemental nutrition assistance, Head Start, and federal education funding — and the devious Republican drafters of Project 2025 want to eliminate ALL of these programs.
These programs are essential. Head Start specifically has served almost 40 million children since it began in 1965, and served more than 833,000 children in 2022 alone.
We have decades of evidence showing that Head Start programs increase educational possibilities and reduce poverty, but Project 2025 wants to entirely eliminate Head Start.
American children and families need your help. Click here to tell your members of Congress to reject Project 2025’s dangerous proposals.
But that’s not all — Project 2025 also seeks to entirely eliminate the Department of Education and fire 6% of teachers nationwide. Our nation is already experiencing a teaching shortage that disproportionately impacts rural and low-income communities. A 6% cut in employment would mean 3.2 million public school teachers would lose their jobs, and the educational outcomes for millions more students would suffer.
Extremists in the House of Representatives have already made some of the proposals detailed in Project 2025. They’ve introduced a potential $4.7 billion cut from Title I grants to local schools serving low-income students — that would cause 72,000 teachers to lose their jobs and eliminate funding for English Language Acquisition programs.
It just keeps getting worse. Project 2025 also hopes to make it harder for low-income families to qualify for free or reduced-price school meals and eliminate summer feeding programs — this could cause millions of children to go hungry.
Project 2025 is a danger to American society overall, but Republicans are taking aim at our education system and vulnerable communities at further risk.
Click here to demand your members of Congress work to stop this radical right-wing takeover before it begins and protect our vital social programs.
Thank you,
