Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congressman Ronny Jackson’s (TX-13) bill, the Maintaining American Superiority by Improving Export Control Transparency Act. This legislation ensures accountability and transparency in the export control process when American goods and technologies are sent abroad. Specifically, the legislation would require information be provided to Congress about each export license application, including the name of the entity submitting the application, who they are exporting to, what the decision was, and how compliance with U.S. export controls is being monitored.
Rep. Jackson said: "By strengthening our export controls, we are ensuring state-of-the-art American technology and products don’t wind up in the hands of our foremost adversaries like China or Russia, putting American interests first. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ foreign policy failures have diminished America’s standing on the world stage and emboldened bad actors like the Chinese Communist Party who want to undermine America as a global leader. In these increasingly threatening times, there is a need for strong export controls with adequate oversight to prevent our technologies from being used against us. I will continue to do everything possible to deter China and our adversaries and put America’s national security interests first. I’m proud of the support this bill received, and I urge the Senate to swiftly consider this legislation!”
