It’s hard to overstate the magnitude of the 2023 disaster in Libya. Entire neighborhoods were washed away as flash flooding collapsed two dams.
Obstructed, destroyed, and flooded roads blocked delivery of humanitarian aid, along with widespread power outages and disruption to communications.
But, thanks to generous gifts from supporters, UNFPA had an existing presence on the ground in Libya allowing us to mobilize rapidly once Storm Daniel hit.
We delivered Mama Kits to ensure that new mothers had everything they needed for themselves and their newborns. These kits include clothing for the mother and her baby, diapers, baby blanket, baby soap, and more.
We also delivered Dignity Kits so that women and girls could maintain their personal healthcare needs after a crisis. These include menstrual pads, bath soap, multiple pairs of underwear, a flashlight, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and more.
Our work never stops in moments of crisis, and your gifts ensure no woman or girl is turned away in their moment of need.
On the one-year anniversary of deadly flooding in Libya, will you make a gift to deliver lifesaving humanitarian aid wherever your help is needed most the moment a crisis hits?
We cannot overlook the women and girls whose needs too often go overlooked during these emergencies.
Thank you for being there for women and girls.
