** DEAR FRIENDS,
------------------------------------------------------------

A rodeo scheduled for September 15th has had its permit DENIED by Boone County due to violations documented by SHARK at a previous event. Finally, some good news! However, even though the property owner was explicitly told to cease all promotions for the event, the promotions continue. The location in Garden Prairie, IL apparently plans to continue the event without a permit! It remains to be seen how Boone County Officials will handle this obstinance.

In July, over 50 dogs were dumped in a Belvidere Dog Park in the middle of the night during a horrible storm. At the time, we reached out to the head of Boone County Animal Control to see how we could be of help, but we never heard back. After a months-long investigation, Boone and McHenry Counties in Illinois have seemingly concluded their investigation and have made arrests.

Two individuals, Concepcion Rodriguez and Bruce Walla have been charged with nearly 100 combined counts of animal cruelty.

While we are happy that the perpetrators have been charged, we question why there are still no charges against the people who have been documented committing animal abuse, over and over again, at the steer tailing events. Are Boone County authorities getting paid off to allow the abuse to continue?
