Dear John,
We need your urgent help to stop discriminatory legislation - H.R. 9456.
The House is planning to vote on legislation to require the federal government to monitor and report on all purchases of agricultural land by certain “foreign persons” including Iranians.
The bill does not narrowly focus on legitimate security concerns, instead sweeping up lawful residents like green card holders, visa holders, and even refugees who have already been vetted and admitted to the U.S.
This bill is opposed by NIAC, the ACLU, and the White House. But if it becomes law, it sets the stage for further restrictions aimed at denying the right to purchase property on wholly discriminatory grounds.
Take action to protect our community against discrimination now:

Here are the key points on the bill:
*
H.R.
9456
is
part
of
an
effort
to
revive
discriminatory
"alien
land
laws"
from
a
century
ago,
which
were
designed
to
prevent
immigrants
from
owning
property.

*
This
bill
uses
national
security
as
a
pretext
to
broadly
target
people
based
solely
on
their
national
origin,
despite
being
lawful
residents.

*
The
bill
could
open
the
door
to
a
dangerous
precedent
of
discrimination,
harming
communities
like
ours
and
other
minority
communities
across
the
U.S.
