“The workers are being sacrificed. This
could be a death sentence.”

That’s what the president of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7
said last week, as JBS prepared to reopen its meatpacking plant in
Greeley. This week saw another employee—the sixth to date—die from
COVID-19.

We’ll discuss this crisis at today’s [ [link removed] ]Virtual Town Hall, Join us at 12

While workers fight for survival, Donald Trump treats them as expendable.
Despite widespread risks, the President ordered meat processing plants to
remain open as part of the nation’s “critical infrastructure.”

The women and men—many of them Latinx, African American, and
immigrants—who work at the plants? Not Trump’s concern.

These employees faced enormous hazards, including dangerous equipment and
hazardous chemicals, even before the pandemic hit. Now they’re being sent
to work—[ [link removed] ]Cory Gardner’s boasts to the contrary—without adequate testing
or protection.

Today is International Workers’ Day, a chance to honor working people
around the world. But conditions like these are nothing to celebrate.

This fight is essential. [ [link removed] ]Tune in at noon.
