Walking and Cycling

Walking and cycling are a great form of exercise. Please follow guidelines on physical distancing and keep at least 2 metres apart and not in groups. Only ride on routes you know well, that are close to home and within your ability level.

Nottingham has lots of local cycle routes to use for essential travel or to exercise once a day. Only ride on routes you know well, that are close to home and within your ability level. Where possible, please wear helmets and reflective clothing for your own safety and those around you.

While outside, avoid touching your face, and wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using your bike.


Nottingham bike aid

Nottingham Bike Aid

Working in partnership with Nottingham City Council, Ridewise, Nottingham Bikeworks and Nottingham's Universities, Sustrans have launched Nottingham Bike Aid.

The scheme aims to assist key workers living or working in Nottingham through personalised travel plans and providing reconditioned bikes as a flexible and affordable alternative way of making essential journeys.

Wednesday 15 April - Friday 22 May: London Road
Lane closure from Victoria Embankment junction to Trent Bridge above the pedestrian footpath for gas mains replacement.

Monday 20 April - TBC: Lace Market Car Park
Car park closed until further notice while urgent maintenance and repair works are carried out.

Monday 27 April - Friday 8 May: Castle Boulevard
Two way traffic lights from outside Park Rock apartments to no.5 Castle Boulevard while new electric connections are installed.

Tuesday 28 April - Monday 4 May: Lenton Boulvevard
Lane closure outside no.113 due to emergency gas leak.

Wednesday 29 April - Wednesday 20 May: Waterway Street West
Lane closure due to gas mains replacements.

Friday 1 May - Monday 4 May: M1 southbound
Full southbound closure between junction 23a and 23 for essential renewal works.

Sunday 3 May: Huntingdon Street
Lane closure outside no.151 while new ducting is fitted.

Monday 4 May - Wednesday 24 June: Wollaton Road
Lane closure from 320 Wollaton Road, across Crown Island to the junction with Canterbury Road due to gas mains replacements.

Monday 4 May - Friday 15 May: Maid Marian Way
Bus lane suspension between Hounds Gate and Castle Gate while a pressure reducing valve main is installed.


Clifton Bridge A52

Clifton Bridge continues to operate under one eastbound Lane. Highways England are continuing investigations.
