John,

Today, we pause and reflect upon the 23rd anniversary of the September 11
terrorist attacks.

That fateful day, our values and our national identity, came under attack.
Thousands of innocent lives—men and women, parents, children, and friends—were
taken from us in an evil act of coordinated terror.

But the attempts to break us only revealed our strength. Americans did not
withdraw into fear and chaos as our enemies had hoped. We came together.
September 11, 2001 saw the best of our nation in the bravery of first
responders and the kindness of strangers.

Never forget those we lost, and never forget the unbreakable resolve that
brought us together in our nation's darkest hours.

Let's strive to find that same spirit today, and stand strong, unified, and
determined as one nation, under God.

With gratitude,

Michelle Fischbach
