Take action now to demand overdose prevention plans from Harris and Trump.
Did you watch the presidential debate on ABC News last night, Friend? We monitored it closely and, unfortunately, there were no clear questions or answers about drug policy and the overdose crisis. With Americans dying of preventable overdose deaths every day, it’s so upsetting that this crisis isn’t being treated like the urgent public health emergency it is.
But supporters like you are helping us keep up the pressure. We are so thankful for the more than 3,500 of you who signed our petition calling on the ABC News debate moderators to ask Harris and Trump how they plan to prevent overdose and save lives.
Although overdose has been overlooked at the presidential debates, we must continue holding candidates accountable. Take action now to demand overdose prevention plans from Harris and Trump.
No one should die from overdose. These deaths are preventable. Yet in the United States, we have lost over one million lives to the devastating overdose crisis over the last 25 years. And we lost nearly 108,000 lives in 2022 alone.
Enough is enough. Americans deserve a real plan for the overdose crisis that will save lives. And at the Drug Policy Alliance, we have a plan. For decades, we have been sounding the alarm on the overdose crisis and advocating for health solutions that save lives. Our next president must:
Overdose deaths are preventable, but the drug war is standing in the way of saving lives. Add your name to join us and keep pressure on candidates to adopt health solutions that save lives rather than recycle the same old failed drug war policies.
