John,
Last night's debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump shined a spotlight on the key differences in their approaches to tax policy.
Vice President Harris reaffirmed her commitment to implementing tax policies that help working families and small businesses, including an expanded Child Tax Credit.
In contrast, Trump doubled down on policies that would increase prices for everyday people by 20%―a defacto sales tax. And, not once did he even try to refute Harris’s assertion that he intends to further cut taxes for the rich and corporations―which aligns with the Republican “Project 2025” plan that would raise taxes on millions of middle class and working families while slashing tax rates for billionaires.
At Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund, we've been sounding the alarm about the dangers of regressive tax policies for months. Just last week, our Executive Director David Kass appeared on C-SPAN, explaining to voters how the 2017 Trump-GOP tax law has been "an expensive failure" that primarily benefited the wealthy and corporations through mechanisms like stock buybacks.[1]
Tax policy is the cornerstone to a fair, productive society that ensures everyone has the opportunity to succeed. But far too often, it can get overlooked, or worse, misrepresented. Will you make an urgent donation of $5 or more to help us amplify our message about how taxes directly impact us in our everyday lives?
We're doubling down on our efforts to expose the truth about right-wing tax proposals and fight for a fairer system. We're ramping up our campaign to defend and expand progressive tax policies. We're pushing for a robust billionaire income tax to ensure the wealthiest Americans can't avoid paying taxes on their enormous wealth gains.
We're advocating for closing corporate tax loopholes that allow hugely profitable companies to pay little or nothing in federal income taxes. And we're fighting to restore IRS funding to crack down on wealthy tax cheats and improve services for ordinary taxpayers.
We can make a choice with our tax policy: A system that works for everyone or one that further enriches the wealthy at the expense of working families.
With your help, we can ensure people understand these crucial differences. Will you make an urgent donation of $5 or more to power our campaign for tax justice?

-- John's email --
John,
In just a few hours, Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will face off in their first debate of this pivotal election. With only 8 weeks left until Election Day, the stakes couldn't be higher for American taxpayers.
Will they talk about taxes? We sure hope so. Because tax policy is vital to creating a fair system and funding services that support families.
The Biden-Harris administration has pledged not to raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year. They're focused on making sure the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share just like the rest of us do.
As our Executive Director David Kass explained on C-SPAN last week, "That $400,000 pledge is a very important one. Anyone making less than $400,000 a year, their taxes are not going to go up, not even a penny."[1]
On the other hand, Trump and his allies have put forth plans to further slash taxes for billionaires and big corporations while raising taxes on working families. Their "Project 2025" plan would hike taxes on millions of households making under $168,000 a year. As David pointed out, "[Around taxes], the biggest thing Project 2025 would do is raise taxes on the middle class and cut taxes on the wealthy."
At Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund, we're working tirelessly to educate voters about the importance of fair tax policy. But we need your help to amplify our message.
Will you chip in $5 or more right now to help us fight for fair tax policies and educate voters in these crucial final weeks of the election?
We're fighting tooth and nail against right-wing tax proposals. We're pushing back against attempts to slash corporate tax rates, fighting to preserve and expand crucial programs like the Child Tax Credit, and advocating for a more progressive tax system that uplifts working families. We're working hard to expose the truth about how Project 2025 would devastate working families while further enriching the wealthy elite.
That’s why we're mobilizing a nationwide movement to demand that big corporations and billionaires finally pay their fair share.
We need a tax system that works for everyone, not one that further enriches the wealthy at the expense of working families. Help us make these crucial differences clear.
We can't win this fight without you. Will you chip in $5 or more right now to fuel our campaign for tax justice?
