Last week, we returned to City Hall for the first session of Fall 2024 — I’m proud to say we are back to work! It’s an honor to lead such a dedicated group of Councilmembers united in our goal to move Philly forward.

In just the first few days, we had meaningful conversations about crucial issues facing our city. From protecting bike lanes and ensuring safer streets, to supporting families impacted by childhood cancer, we’re tackling the needs of our community head-on.

Here are some of the highlights from our initial session:

• We introduced 21 new bills and 49 new resolutions, addressing everything from infrastructure improvements to strengthening support for Philadelphians.
• We began discussions on expanding affordable housing and fixing our broken prison system.
• I proudly introduced legislation to protect our cyclists and bike lanes, prohibiting vehicles from stopping, standing, or parking in bike lanes and increasing the fine across the city.

This is just the beginning, John — I’m excited to get back to work and continue fighting for the future our city deserves.
