Representative Espaillat Statement Marking 23 Years Since the Attacks of September 11th

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) spoke on the House floor in reflection of the 23 years since the terror attacks of September 11.

The following are remarks by Rep. Espaillat as prepared for delivery:

"September 11th serves as a reminder to each of us and our allies around the globe of the tragic loss of the nearly 3,000 innocent Americans and our strength as a nation to stand united in the face of terrorism.

Twenty-three years ago, we remember and will never forget the lives lost that fateful day as we witnessed the strength and bravery of individuals who sacrificed everything to help their fellow New Yorkers, colleagues at the Pentagon, and fellow passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93.

Since 2001, we have worked to increase benefits for those that have been affected in the aftermath. I am a proud cosponsor of the 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act which would provide additional funding to the program that provides treatment to 9/11 responders and survivors.

September 11th is a solemn day in our nation's history. And while twenty-three years have passed since the attacks, we remember and mourn the lives we lost, reflect on the sacrifices and heroism of our first responders, and vow to Never Forget the tremendous sacrifices made that day.

We will never forget 9/11 and cannot ignore the magnitude of emotion and remembrance as we reflect on the lives of survivors, their families, and first responders.

May God continue to bless our 9/11 families and first responders. And may God continue to bless the United States of America."

WASHINGTON, DC – Hoy, el congresista Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) habló en el piso de la Cámara de Representantes para reflexionar sobre los 23 años transcurridos desde los ataques terroristas del 11 de Septiembre.

"El 11 de Septiembre nos sirve a todos nosotros y a nuestros aliados en todo el mundo como un recordatorio de la trágica pérdida de casi 3,000 estadounidenses inocentes y nuestra fortaleza como nación para permanecer unidos frente al terrorismo.

Hace veintitrés años, recordamos y nunca olvidaremos las vidas que se perdieron ese fatídico día, cuando fuimos testigos de la fuerza y la valentía de las personas que sacrificaron todo para ayudar a sus compatriotas neoyorquinos, a sus colegas del Pentágono y a los pasajeros y tripulantes del Vuelo 93 de United Airlines.

Desde 2001, hemos trabajado para aumentar los beneficios para aquellos que se han visto afectados por las secuelas del 9/11. Soy un orgulloso copatrocinador de la Ley de Corrección del Financiamiento de la Salud de los Sobrevivientes y los Socorristas del 9/11, que proporcionaría fondos adicionales al programa que brinda tratamiento a los socorristas y sobrevivientes del 9/11.

El 11 de Septiembre es un día solemne en la historia de nuestra nación.
