Texas Music Office Announces Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program Applications Now Open [ [link removed] ]

 

Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office (TMO) [ [link removed] ] announced on September 4, 2024 the opening of applications for the second year of the Texas Music Incubator Rebate (TMIR) Program [ [link removed] ]. As first announced by Governor Abbott and the TMO in 2023 [ [link removed] ], the TMIR Program provides qualifying Texas music venues and festival promoters a full or partial rebate of mixed beverage gross receipts taxes or sales taxes of up to $100,000 to help support the live music industry in communities across the state.

With $20.2 million approved for the biennium in the 88th Legislative Session, applications for Fiscal Year 2024 funding are now open through November 30, 2024.

Jaclyn Zapata Joins TMO as TMIR Program Administrator

 

Jaclyn Zapata is the new Texas Music Incubator Rebate (TMIR) [ [link removed] ] Program Specialist with the Office of the Governor’s Texas Music Office (TMO) [ [link removed] ]. Hailing from Poteet, Texas, Jaclyn is a music historian specializing in Texas blues. In her role with the TMO, she manages the TMIR program, which offers qualified music venues and festival promoters across Texas a full or partial rebate on mixed beverage gross receipts taxes or sales taxes related to the sale of beer and wine. Jaclyn is deeply committed to supporting the live music industry throughout the state. Beyond her work with the TMO, Jaclyn researches and writes State Historical Markers for Texas music figures. She has been published in the Journal of Texas Music History and is an advisor to the Texas Music History Trail. [ [link removed] ]

TMO's Gini Mascorro Presents at TACVB's Annual Conference

 

Gini Mascorro, TMO's Community Relations & Outreach Specialist, who heads up the office's Music Friendly Texas (MFT) Program [ [link removed] ], represented the TMO at the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) Annual Conference in Austin last month. She presented to CVBs throughout the state about the TMO's MFT Program, among other topics.

The Texas Music Office (TMO), the City of Mexia, the Mexia Economic Development Corporation, and Mexia Downtown co-hosted a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on Tuesday, August 27. After completing the multi-step process, they will join over 60 certified communities throughout the state.
