"Solving the climate crisis is not about renewable energy at all. It is really about a much broader way of looking at what needs to be done to address the challenges."
- Al Weinrub (1943-2023)

This is a friendly reminder for the Virtual Reflection Circle in honor of Energy Democracy Project's co-founder, Al Weinrub, to reflect on our ongoing organizing for justice in the clean energy transiton.
Alongside movement leaders Denise Fairchild and Anthony Giancatarino, Al held a vision for the Energy Democracy Project that led to the publication of the book Energy Democracy: Advancing Equity in Clean Energy Solutions in 2017. Years later, we're continuing this movement to promote real, people-powered solutions—ones that can't be co-opted, sold, or aligned with profit-fueled interests; solutions that empower our communities, and that support the health of global ecosystems. One month before Al transitioned, he left us with his final paper "The New (Renewable) Energy Tyranny."
Join us TOMORROW for a one-hour conversation on the legacy of Al Weinrub, our organizing in the face of the implications of renewable energy development, and the role we each play in the movement for Energy Democracy.

On September 12th from 1-2 PMT/3-4 PM CT/4-5 PM ET, you're encouraged to join this special reflection circle with leaders organizing for Energy Democracy across the country. You can be prepared to come share or just listen -- whatever moves you.
Together, we'll face the heavy contradiction: the extraction and control embedded in the race for renewable energy around the globe. We'll also identify possibilities for a people-powered energy future: across race, class, and zip code, we're peeling back the veil on greed and deception fueling ecological disasters, and building a movement for liberation.
