This fast-paced, engaging hunt is perfect for beginner hunters. Turkey hunting requires less gear than many other hunts and the small size makes it the easiest big game species to prepare for the dinner table. Wild turkeys are abundant and there is lots of opportunity throughout the state, making it easier to find a location close to home.
The Youth Fall Wild Turkey Hunting day is Saturday, September 14 and the season is open to all hunters Monday, September 16 - Thursday, November 7, 2024. Before heading afield, be sure to pair your hunting license with a turkey hunting permit.
Remember to always ask for permission when hunting on private land and to treat the land with respect. Access to private land is a gift, not a given. We hope you have a memorable fall hunting season.

Self-register wild turkey online OR in-person at a registration station
All wild turkeys harvested during the spring and fall hunting seasons must be registered.
To self-register a turkey online, hunters may use a phone, computer, or any electronic device with internet connection. If a hunter has poor internet connection, they must attach a transportation label (with their name, license number, and address) and drive to a location with better internet connection. Once self-registered, hunters will receive a seal number via email to confirm the wild turkey was registered. The confirmation can be saved to the device or printed. There is no fee to self-register a turkey online.
Hunters will need the following information to self-register a turkey online:
- MOSES ID (found on your hunting license)
- Last name
- Date of birth
- Current hunting license
- Current turkey permit if not included in license
- Current email address
- If resident landowner hunting on own land, you must comply with landowner privilege regulations regarding license and/or permit
Hunters who prefer to register their harvest in-person at a registration station are encouraged to do so. Click here for a list of in-person registration stations.
