John,
Today marks the anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history.
On this day 23 years ago we lost 2,996 lives, and we’ve lost countless more since then from the long-lasting effects of the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
What happened on that day was pure evil. And sadly, it’s an evil that’s still alive and well in the world today.
As a Green Beret, I saw terrorism in its rawest forms. I saw people fueled by nothing but their hatred for America and our freedom, democracy, and values.
We cannot take our nation for granted. Every day, we need to do what we can to protect and defend our democracy.
Today, I want to express my gratitude for the service members who have served since 9/11 past and present to make sure America NEVER experiences an attack on our own soil like that again.
I also want to thank the first responders from all around the globe who turned out to save lives and provide closure for families that day. Your service does not go unnoticed.
Even in times of tragedy, I’m grateful to live in the freest nation on Earth. And as your Congressman, I will do everything I can to make sure it stays that way. |
In Service, Col. Mike Waltz (Ret.)
