| Twenty-three years ago, on September 11th, 2001, our country was changed forever. As we reflect back on it each year, we are filled with sorrow for the victims of the attacks that day, those who lost their lives in the months and years that followed, and for all of the families who have been touched by this tragedy. Out of that horrific day, our country proved we could still come together to collectively grieve, heal, and respond. Things have changed since 2001, that’s for sure. But the essence of what it means to be American, to love your neighbor, and to stand for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is unwavering. To those who answered the call of duty in the wake of 9/11 and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation, we owe you and your loved ones an unpayable debt. Today, we’re thinking of all those remembering lost loved ones and all those who continue to answer the call of duty to defend our great nation.
