Friend,
None of us will forget where we were on this day 23 years ago. More than two decades later, the horrific images are still clear in my mind: Burning, collapsing buildings — a nation under attack and cities living through terror. Thousands of Americans senselessly killed. It remains one of the darkest days in our nation's history.
|
In remembrance, my heart is with the families of 9/11 victims — of spouses, parents, children, and friends who've endured many years without somebody they love, somebody taken from them that day. We must also never forget the bravery of passengers who brought down Flight 93. Without their sacrifice, even more innocent lives would have been taken by terrorists.
|
There's something else I remember from that day 23 years ago. Maybe you remember it too: bravery and unity. First responders ran to the scene without flinching, many sacrificing their own lives in the process. Communities came together. As a nation, we were there for one another. We supported each other through the grief and shock.
It's a solemn reminder that, even in the gravest of times, there's nothing we can't overcome when we are united.
Let us never forget.
— Debbie
