Here are the cold hard facts: Trump and the Republicans raised taxes here on Long Island. And they did it out of spite as a part of a political stunt.
State and local tax ( SALT) deductions save families across Suffolk County an average of $10,000 per year, and this next election will determine whether you see that money again – or it's gone for good.
Nick LaLota constantly talks about how he's trying to get SALT deductions back, but he just can't get it done. Why? Because Republicans are never, ever going to restore the SALT tax deduction.
Nick LaLota knows it, and so should you.

In fact, Republican leadership has already promised to make the removal of SALT tax deductions permanent if they get back into power. It's right there in black and white. So why should you believe lying Nick Lalota? He's a follower, not a leader.

But, if you vote for John Avlon for Congress and Democrats take back the house, you will get back that state and local-tax deduction.
Why? Because all the Trump tax cuts are set to expire in 2025, and if Democrats take the house with Hakeem Jeffries as speaker, you'll get that money back.
What would you do with $10,000 extra a year? That's a down payment on a home. That's much needed breathing room for you and your family. And if you're raising kids, we'll work to expand the Child Tax Credit and put an average of $6,600 in your pocket for a family.

So this election, vote with your hopes and not your fears. Vote to lower the cost of living and increase the quality of life.
Nick LaLota's empty promises just keep rubbing SALT in our wounds. John Avlon will get that money back. Because he'll fight for Suffolk County families every day.
