Our media system is in serious jeopardy, with an average of two local newspapers shutting down every week and big media corporations repeatedly choosing profit over critical coverage. We need the kind of media that fight distrust and disinformation by accurately and unapologetically reporting on U.S. elections and the state of our democracy.

As traditional media falters, social media has worsened our division. Most online platforms have rolled back essential safeguards on content moderation and trust & safety when they should be doing more, not less, to rein in harmful and violent manipulation of users.

Democracy Is … is uniting hundreds of organizations from around the world to offer recommendations for media and tech companies. Our institutions must protect their users and give people the information they need to participate fully in their communities and our democracy.

Our partners include organizations like Common Cause, Democracy SOS, GLAAD, Issue One, Onyx Impact, People for the American Way and UnidosUS.
