This year, we have been trying something new with our Coffee Klatch podcast, which I do every week with IMCA executive director, Heather Kinlaw Lofthouse: We have been hosting special live “watchalong” episodes for big political events!
First we watched the Biden-Trump debate with tens of thousands of fellow Coffee Klatchers and IMCA supporters like you; then a few weeks later, together we slogged through Trump’s RNC speech.
Now, this Tuesday, it’s time for the first, and so far the only scheduled, Harris-Trump debate! It’s no exaggeration to say, this one debate could determine the dueling trajectories and final outcome of the remaining 8 weeks of the campaign.
Once again, we will be watching here in our LIVE stream, starting with our pre-show commentary at 8:45 pm ET / 5:45 pm PT, before the debate itself starts at 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT.
These watchalongs have not always been easy! We’ve been watching through our fingers to get through what turned out to be a faltering performance by President Biden, and the non-stop torrents of lies and nonsensical non-sequiturs from Donald Trump.
Thank goodness we were able to get through these together!
Now with the Harris-Trump debate, hopes are high, and so are our nerves, as so much depends on how these candidates express their visions for the country, and connect with undecided voters, in these few ninety minutes.
But one thing is for sure: Whether it’s a nail-biter or a white-knuckler, it will be better to watch it together in the company of one another to provide insight, fact-checking, and support!
