Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I am in Washington, D.C. this week for votes, meetings with my fellow Kansans, and committee activity. Follow me on social media to see what is happening in Congress and how I'm fighting to protect our conservative Kansas values. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead The Kansas State Fair is officially underway! Since 1913, the Kansas State Fair has been held in Hutchinson, Kansas – right in the heart of the Big First District. Make sure you stop by my booth in the Meadowlark Building from now through September 15. Members of my staff will be there each day to assist you, answer your questions, and hear your concerns. We hope to see you while we’re there. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider legislation to bolster America's national security and deter Communist China. The Biden-Harris Administration inherited a government from President Trump that held China accountable. The Trump Administration brought an end to the decades-long run of Communist China taking advantage of America and fought to make sure China abided by the policies they agreed to. Under President Biden and Vice President Harris, China has reverted to using the United States as a doormat. House Republicans will not sit by idly and watch the Biden-Harris policies destroy our nation’s security. That’s why we will consider legalization that holds China accountable for its unfair trade deals, gross human rights violations, and adverse policies. I am fighting to ensure that Kansans have a nation that's safe and a future that's built on freedom, and that requires us to be tough on China. Also happening this week, Congress will honor the thirteen American service members who were killed in the terrorist attack at the Kabul Airport on August 29, 2021. After President Biden and Vice President Harris’ botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, these innocent service members paid the ultimate price while serving our country, and we owe them and their families our deepest gratitude. Just yesterday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee released a long-awaited report examining the failures of the Biden-Harris Administration's Afghanistan withdrawal. The report revealed what we’ve long known to be true—the Biden-Harris Administration had no strategy in their withdrawal, leading to the deadliest day for America in Afghanistan since 2012. Rather than acknowledging the facts on the ground, the Biden-Harris Administration engaged in a PR coverup to downplay the disastrous withdrawal, choosing politics and optics over the safety of our troops. President Biden, Vice President Harris, and every other official responsible for this catastrophic failure must be held accountable. Legislative showmanship gives elected leaders a crash course in exhibiting livestock under the mentorship of 4-H and FFA members. I am always impressed by the knowledge, skill, and passion of 4-H and FFA members, and I know the work they are doing now will ensure that our brightest days are yet to come. Congratulations to all participants and have a great State Fair! Participating in the Kansas Farm Bureau Agricultural Leadership Breakfast On Saturday, I attended the Agricultural Leadership Breakfast hosted by Kansas Farm Bureau at the Kansas State Fair. It was great to catch up with so many familiar faces and hear the concerns of our Kansas agricultural community. During the breakfast, I provided an update on the Farm Bill and spoke about the importance of maintaining stepped-up basis for farmers, ranchers, agricultural producers, and small businesses across Kansas. During my fourth annual Mann Listening Tour, Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers were clear—they need a Farm Bill, and they need it now. While the House Agriculture Committee has passed a bipartisan, fiscally conservative Farm Bill, Senate Democrats have yet to release their version of the Farm Bill, putting the livelihoods of those who work to feed, fuel, and clothe the world at risk. I will not stop fighting for Congress to pass a Farm Bill ahead of the September 30 deadline, and I appreciate Kansas Farm Bureau for inviting me to its annual Agricultural Leadership Breakfast. Dedicating the 1861 Club Join me in congratulating the 1861 Club on its dedication and ribbon cutting last week. The 1861 Club is an event space on the Kansas State Fairgrounds that will serve as a hub for food, beverage, and entertainment for all visitors. The 1861 Club is open to the public with no membership required, and any revenue generated goes back into preserving and beautifying buildings and areas on the Kansas State Fairgrounds. I appreciate the efforts of the 1861 Club to ensure the Kansas State Fairgrounds remains a welcoming environment for years to come. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your special day. Touring Energy Transfer Compressor Station Last week, my staff and I visited the Energy Transfer compressor station in Haven. Companies like Energy Transfer are critical in supporting American energy independence. During the tour, I learned more about Energy Transfer's operations that distribute natural gas across Kansas and to the rest of America. While the Biden-Harris Administration wages war on fossil fuels, I am proud to support those who work day in and day out to power the world. Thank you, Energy Transfer, for your important work and for allowing me and my staff to tour your facility. Remembering September 11, 2001 Twenty-three years ago, the world watched in horror as more than 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives to terrorists who attacked the freedoms that we hold dear. While Al-Qaeda's goal was to divide America, America united to fight for freedom and ensure those responsible were brought to justice. As we remember the horrific tragedy of September 11, 2001, let us also remember those who have and continue to defend our freedoms, so that we may continue to be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.   Mann in the News In case you missed it: Washington Reporter - Pass a Farm Bill Now Read my op-ed here In case you missed it: Salina Post - More Kansas Values in our Nation's Capital Read my column here     Military Academy Nominations As a Member of Congress, I am honored to nominate students from the Big First District to attend our country’s military service academies.
