John, it's like Summer Lee said: "We weren't [prepared] for the fact that we've had to leave our jobs. We were going to have to furnish a house…move our stuff in, and we're going to have to pay rent in DC and our hometowns."
I was so glad to have an opportunity with Teen Vogue to give the lack of accessible and affordable housing legislation a platform because this is such a personal issue to me. I grew up in a working-class home and my family lived in subsidized housing above our church until I was about seven years old.
It shouldn't have to be this way, but this kind of housing insecurity is the reality for lots of folks across our district and across the US.
That's why I've worked hard to push the needle on housing in our district. In fact, just this year, I secured millions of dollars in crucial funding toward revitalizing vacant buildings and providing more affordable housing.
And while I'd like to continue delivering results for our community, I can't ignore our upcoming election and the GOP opponent working hard to undo all of the work we've done so far.
John, my team and I are reaching out to ask for your help in ramping up our field efforts. To ensure that my reelection campaign has the resources it needs to succeed, will you chip in any amount you can spare today?
