At this mapathon we will map in Mizoram state, India,
where MSF is supporting local communities and displaced people amid the conflict in Myanmar. Activities include mobile medical clinics, mental health support, water and sanitation support, and distributions of non-food items such as kitchen utensils and blankets. The event will feature a presentation by MSF aid worker Jennifer Stella, who has worked with people from Myanmar, including Rohingya refugees, as project medical referent in the Jamtoli refugee camp in Bangladesh.
A special initiative founded by Doctors Without Borders, American Red Cross, British Red Cross, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, The Missing Maps Project is powered by volunteers around the world. Using OpenStreetMap, an open, free, and crowd-sourced platform, volunteers map underserved regions in order to provide international organizations, local organizations, and individuals with geographic data to better respond to crises. | |
