Dear John

Here's your weekly update from Church Action on Poverty. As usual, we have
stories of how people are staying connected during the Coronavirus outbreak, and
resources to help you do the same.

GATHER WITH US: TUESDAY 5TH MAY, 2PM

Join our 60-minute virtual gathering at 2pm on Tuesday 5 May. We use Zoom - you
can connect using a computer or smartphone, or you can dial in using a normal
phone.

This week, we'll be talking about the media and reporting stories from the
margins. We will be joined by a journalist from the Mirror and there will be
opportunity to discuss important issues you would like to see reported on more.

MEDIA FOR LOCKDOWN – WHAT TO READ, LISTEN TO AND WATCH

Do you have time on your hands during the lockdown? Our Communications Manager
suggests some books, TV and podcasts that could keep you occupied – and help you
understand UK poverty and campaigning better!

Check out Liam's reccomendations here.

POET IN DIGITAL RESIDENCE
Through the pandemic, Matt Sowerby, our poet in digital residence, is helping
Church Action on Poverty’s partners and supporters to respond creatively to the
impact of the virus and lockdown, with weekly workshops and inspirational online
performances every Tuesday at 3.30 pm on Zoom.

Find out more and join for the workshops here.

KINDNESS, COMMUNITY AND RHUBARB
Sheena is involved with one of our SRG projects in Manchester. She's 96, and her
views on the current tough times, and those that have gone before, give us some
useful reminders.

We'll be in touch again next week - and we hope we'll see you at our gathering
on the margins. In the meantime, stay safe and stay connected.

Best wishes
