Hey Charleston!
My friends at the Gaillard Center have some exciting kid-friendly, democracy-themed events planned in the weeks leading up to the election on November 5.
If you are looking for something to do with your kids (other than canvass and vote:)), check out the details below!
It’s never too early for kids to start learning about why our democracy is worth fighting for.
Until the kids are alright,
Annie
Navigating the democratic ideals of our nation can be challenging, especially for parents trying to guide their children through these complex concepts. In times of uncertainty, the arts can offer a powerful means of understanding and connection. This fall, in the lead up to and following the Election, the Charleston Gaillard Center is presenting Fall for Democracy. This program, featuring performances, speakers, and panels, is designed to provide a platform for every voice, fostering open and thoughtful dialogue.
Fight Night (September 12 and 13): a fun, interactive play exploring the concept of voting and the collective conscious (for middle school age and above)
Special offer: Buy one ticket, get one free with code FIGHTBOGO
This Land is Our Land (October 23): Indigenous artist Martha Redbone and American Patchwork Quartet give voice to issues of social justice and celebrate the human spirit through music (all ages)
Special offer: Buy one ticket, get one free with code LANDBOGO
Of All The People In All The World by Stan's Cafe (October 23 - 27): a free installation in the Gaillard Center lobbies using 3 tons of rice to explore myriad human statistics (all ages)
