We can’t let this keep happening.
Last week, four people were killed and nine others were wounded in yet another horrific school shooting – this time at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The shooter, who was only fourteen years old, used an assault-style weapon purchased for him as a “gift” by his father.
As much as we want to say we can’t believe it, we can. We have an epidemic of gun violence on our hands, and “thoughts and prayers” are not going to solve it. Preventable acts of gun violence continue to cause immeasurable grief in communities across our country.
For years, Democrats like Lori have fought to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban to stop the sale of weapons of war that have been used in so many mass shootings like this one in recent years. However, the corporate gun lobby has stood firmly in the way of this proven, commonsense gun safety legislation time and time again.
We have to do something to stop these shootings from happening, and that means reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban. We can’t let the NRA stop us from passing this lifesaving legislation any longer, friends. Please, will you sign our petition calling on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban?
