Session V - Advocacy Issues that Impact You

Thursday, September 26th, 10am - 11:30am

The number of older New Yorkers keeps growing, yet there are still many critical policy areas that need to be addressed. We'll discuss three key initiatives with our expert panelists. The first is a unique partnership between Cornell University and LiveOn NY that will study the impact of climate change on older adults. The second will explore efforts to reduce the wait list for services required to support you as you age in place. And finally, given the historic impact of the upcoming election, the League of Women Voters will share tools to allow you to better assess the reliability of election-related information and ultimately help you to make the best decisions about the future direction of New York and the nation.

Speakers:

Alison Nickerson

Executive Director, LiveOn NY

Karl Andrew Pillemer

Professor of Human Development, Cornell University

Dora Fisher

State Policy Director, LiveOn NY

Karen Wharton

Democracy Coalition Coordinator, Citizen Action of New York

Board Member, League of Women Voters of NYC
