Dear Friend,

At DC JWJ, we know solidarity is a verb.

  • Solidarity means knocking on your neighbor’s door to see if their apartment flooded… again

  • Solidarity means showing up when a workplace has suddenly shuttered

  • Solidarity means marching with hotel workers and helping win a historic contract

  • Solidarity means joining tipped workers to save I-82

  • Solidarity means planning for political violence with our communities

It is in solidarity with DC’s workers and residents that DC JWJ does our most powerful work.

Solidarity requires us to be nimble. We don’t know when a contract campaign is going to get nasty. When a company would rather close than accept a union. We can’t fully plan for a government shutdown, a pandemic, or the election of a dangerous leader.

Sustainers allow us to be nimble. Individual donations allow us to take on new projects we didn’t plan for – and show up exactly when we’re needed.

As DC JWJ’s Solidarity Organizer, I know how important it is for us to maintain this kind of flexibility.

Help us continue to show up. Sustain our solidarity today.

In solidarity,

Eduarda Serafim
