Greetings from Washington, DC! My team and I are here for Wilderness Week with the National Wilderness Coalition, a group of conservation advocates that build political power and advance wilderness legislation. We need your help to make a significant impact this week.
This month marks the 60th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, and we're honored to join wilderness defenders from across the country in celebrating this milestone. During our time in DC, we'll meet with key elected officials and their staff to discuss the urgent need to protect the watershed of the Boundary Waters permanently.
As you know, there are ongoing threats to the Boundary Waters, including efforts by Congressman Stauber to rescind the current 20-year ban on sulfide-ore copper mining in the watershed . We are working tirelessly this week to ensure this and any other anti-wilderness legislation does not gain traction.
