Kamala Harris’ Campaign Debuts Platform One Day Before Her Debate With Trump

Townhall: Vice President Kamala Harris finally unveiled a new “issues” section on her campaign website, one day before she’s set to debate former President Donald Trump. Her policy agenda, titled “A New Way Forward,” details her positions on issues ranging from her economic vision to abortion rights, healthcare, immigration, and more… In one section on the economy, Harris doubles down on her plan for price controls, which drew widespread criticism from those on both sides of the political aisle (Townhall). National Review: Meanwhile, each section of Harris’s policy rollout includes a paragraph about Trump’s “Project 2025” agenda – though Trump has strongly disavowed the policy blueprint, which comes from the conservative Heritage Foundation and not the campaign itself (National Review). Karoline Leavitt: In the wee hours of the night 1 day before the debate, Kamala’s campaign finally posted policy proposals to her website. Why doesn’t Kamala go back to the White House and implement these policies right now (X)? Reporter Steve Cortes: Kamala’s solution to “fix our broken immigration system” is to give amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens who broke our laws and invaded our country (X).

The Hill’s Alexander Bolton Suggests Men Who Do Not Vote for Kamala Harris are Misogynists

Hill: Former President Trump’s problems with female voters are well known. New polls show that Harris has just as big of a problem with male voters in some states. At the Democratic convention in Chicago last month, Harris and her political team largely downplayed her chance of making history by becoming the first woman elected president, and political experts say male voters in some parts of the country remain leery about putting a woman in the Oval Office. A senior Senate Democratic aide said sexism and misogyny are still powerful forces in the country’s battleground states. “Misogyny is a hell of a drug,” the source quipped, who said the same problem reared its head when Hillary Clinton was the Democratic nominee eight years ago. Clinton lost the male vote to Trump in 2016 by 11 points, 41 percent to 52 percent, while she won the female vote by 13 points, 54 percent to 41 percent (Hill). PJ Media: “Vote for Kamala Harris, you sexist pig” is one helluva sales pitch… When women support a woman because she’s a woman, that’s a good thing. When men don’t support a woman — for whatever reason, and I’ll get to that momentarily — that’s a bad thing. Again, because reasons. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s Spokesperson Admits Targeting Trump Is Politically Motivated

Townhall: Conservative commentator Steven Crowder deployed one of his reporters who obtained this damning video from Nicholas Biase, a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. In the 13-minute video, Biase says everything we assumed to be true about the hush money trial involving Donald Trump. It’s politically motivated, aimed at damaging his candidacy. He’s even said that the whole legal effort was a perversion of justice (Townhall). New York Post: Bragg twisted what should have been, at most, a misdemeanor into a typhoon of felonies by claiming Trump intended to defraud voters in the 2016 election when he repaid Michael Cohen in 2017 to cover his (perfectly legal) go-away payment to Stormy Daniels the year before…Biase stated more of the obvious: Democrats are “obsessed with getting” Trump because “it affects his candidacy if he’s a convicted felon.” And Fulton County, Ga., DA Fani Willis’ case against Trump is “a mockery of justice,” he added; “the whole thing is disgusting” (New York Post). The Biden/Harris Immigration Catastrophe on Full Display in Springfield, Ohio

Daily Mail: Springfield, Ohio, has become a flashpoint in the debate over immigration, after droves of Haitian migrants arrived in the city in 2020 to fill jobs vacancies. Willing to do the blue-collar jobs locals were unenthusiastic about, the Haitians, who were already in the country legally, moved to the town. Within a few years, 20,000 immigrants arrived, swelling Springfield’s population, which was only 58,000 in 2020. The Haitians had social security numbers and job permits, paid taxes, and lived in houses that were empty and boarded up as the town shrank. However, their arrival put a strain on medical services and the education system. Having filled empty homes, later arrivals also contributed to a housing crisis egged on by landlords prioritizing immigrants who would pay more, instead of low-income locals on government subsidies. A bitter resident has even claimed that local car insurance rates were surging because the immigrants don’t know how to drive (Daily Mail). Collin Rugg: Springfield, Ohio woman says homeless Haitians are trying to camp out on her front yard… “I have men that cannot speak English in my front yard, screaming at me, throwing mattresses in my front yard.” “Look at me, I weigh 95 pounds. I couldn’t defend myself if I had to. My husband is elderly.” “Who’s protecting me? I want out of this town. I am sorry. Please give me a reason to stay” (X). Charlie Kirk: Residents of Springfield, OH are reporting that Haitians are eating their family pets, another gift of the Biden-Harris mass immigration replacement plan. Liberals will soon be lecturing Americans on why they need to be sensitive to Haitian culture and accept this as the new normal. Those idiots deserve to be condemned and mocked mercilessly. Typhoon in Northern Vietnam Kills 59

Vietnam needs to be in our prayers. CNN: A bridge collapsed and a bus was swept away by flooding Monday as more rain fell following a typhoon in Vietnam, causing at least 59 deaths, and disrupting businesses and factories in the export-focused northern industrial hubs. Nine people died when Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Vietnam on Saturday before weakening to a tropical depression, and at least 50 others have died in the consequent floods and landslides. The water levels of several rivers in northern Vietnam were dangerously high. A passenger bus carrying 20 people was swept into a flooded stream by a landslide in mountainous Cao Bang province Monday morning. Rescuers were deployed but landslides blocked their path. In Phu Tho province, rescue operations were continuing after a steel bridge over the engorged Red River collapsed Monday morning. Reports said 10 cars and trucks along with two motorbikes fell into the river. Three people were pulled out of the river and taken to the hospital, but 13 others were missing (CNN). Andy Ngo: Northern Vietnam has been experiencing deadly high winds from super typhoon Yagi. The typhoon has caused buildings to break apart, a large boat sinking and landslides (X).

Southern California Wildfire Torches Over 20,000 Acres, Threatens 36,000 Structures

ABC: The wildfire tearing through the foothills of Southern California’s San Bernardino County is now endangering more than 36,000 structures. The Line Fire began on Sept. 5 and has since burned some 20,553 acres east of Los Angeles, with three firefighters so far injured attempting to control the blaze, fire officials said. As of 9:25 p.m. Sunday night local time, the fire remained at 0% containment. No structures have been damaged or destroyed, but the Cal Fire’s Sunday evening update warned that 36,328 structures were under threat (ABC). CNN: As the flames move dangerously close, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced mandatory evacuation orders for about 4,800 homes in the Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake areas (CNN).

Reagan Movie Continues to Defy Expectations

Crosswalk: A faith-focused movie about President Ronald Reagan is outperforming expectations and climbing the charts, demonstrating that Americans still have a deep admiration for the Gipper. One week after opening at No. 4 in the United States, Reagan (PG-13) climbed the charts in its second weekend to No. 3 and crossed $18 million in total gross, trailing only No. 1 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and No. 2 Deadpool & Wolverine. Just as impressive, Reagan fell only 31.6 percent compared to its previous weekend in an industry where drops of 40 to 60 percent are typical. Deadpool & Wolverine, for example, fell 54 percent in its second weekend. It Ends with Us dropped 52 percent in its second weekend. Box office experts had expected Reagan to remain in single digits during its Labor Day weekend launch. Instead, Reagan crossed $10 million (Crosswalk).

New York Congressman Argues Trump Policy of Deporting Illegals Is Racist

Real Clear Politics: Rep. Dan Goldman, a New York Democrat and surrogate for the Harris campaign, argued during an interview on “The Hill Sunday” on NewsNation that racism is the “plain and simple” reason why Republicans oppose illegal immigration. Asked about whether Harris still supports “decriminalizing illegal immigration” as she said she did during the 2020 Democratic primary, Goldman explained: “There’s no evolution. ‘Decriminalizing border crossing’ means that you do not have the child separation policy, where you put parents in jail for crossing the border and separating them from their children” (Real Clear Politics). Tom Elliot: Rep. Daniel Goldman: Republicans want to close the border because “they do not want people who are not white to come into this country. It’s plain and simple” (X). Guy Benson: By all means, go with “border control is racist” (X).

Dog Stroller Sales Boom in South Korea Where Fertility Rate is at a Critical Low

Wall Street Journal: In many advanced economies, including the U.S., adults treat their pets like pampered children, with fancy birthday parties, decked-out doggy mansions, private-plane travel and rides in dog strollers. But pet parents have South Korean officials howling. The country is confronting a national fertility rate of 0.72—or a mere third of the level needed to maintain the population. At a youth roundtable last year, Kim Moon-soo, the country’s now labor minister, scolded the fresh-faced attendees: “What I worry about is young people not loving each other,” Kim said. “Instead, they love their dogs and carry them around, they don’t get married, and they don’t have children.” Members of a left-leaning minority party protested Kim’s comments at a recent press conference, and said he should consider intense working conditions and low wages before blaming pet owners for low birthrates. In a recent local poll, one in two South Korean women aged 20 to 49 said they had no intention of having children, seeing it as inessential and citing financial constraints. While pet-friendly venues proliferate across the country, restaurants and cafes declare “No-kid zones,” pointing to disruptive behavior. The central government’s entreaty for younger generations to choose children over pets does have a twist: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is married without children—and has a menagerie of at least 10 dogs and cats himself… Dog-stroller sales have quadrupled since 2019, according to Yoon Hyun-shin, head of Pet Friends, South Korea’s largest online pet-commerce platform. Airbuggy is hailed as the “Mercedes-Benz” of them. Their fall-winter “Grey Tweed” special-edition model costs about $1,100, sports Scottish fabric and off-road tires (Wall Street Journal).

James Earl Jones Passes Away at 93 in His New York Home

The legend can now rest in peace. Deadline: James Earl Jones, the revered actor who voiced Star Wars villain Darth Vader, starred in Field of Dreams and many other films and Broadway shows and is an EGOT winner, died this morning at his home in Dutchess County, NY. He was 93… Beginning with the Stanley Kubrick classic Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), Jones went on to appear in some of the most successful films of all time. He probably is best known for his voice role as Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. He also reprised the villainous role in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). Jones also Mufasa both in The Lion King animated pic (1994) and hybrid/live-action film (2019). He also lent his sonorous voice to the famous “This is CNN” promo campaign for the cable news network (Deadline). New York Post: Jones’ long Hollywood career defied expectations. Jones was mute for nearly eight years, until he was 14, as he suffered from a serious stutter that developed after he moved to Michigan at a young age. His stutter was was suspected to be caused by childhood trauma— and it was actually his high school English teacher, poet Donald Crouch, who helped him work to overcome it. As Crouch challenged him to memorize poems and recite them in front of his class, Jones was able to speak more clearly. “He got me engaged in the debating class, the dramatic reading class and so on,” Jones told The Daily Mail in a 2010 interview. “He got me talking, and reading poetry — Edgar Allan Poe was my favorite.” After high school, Jones went to The University of Michigan, initially to study medicine, but found himself falling in love with acting, switching his major to drama. He completed service as an Army Ranger before moving to New York to pursue acting. He lived in an apartment that cost $19 per month and did other chores, like scrubbing floors, to make money. In 1961, Jones performed in the American premiere of “The Blacks,” a play written by Jean Genet that explored race, inspired by Ghana’s 1957 independence (New York Post).
