Dear John,

In recent months, yet more lion and tiger cubs have been born at UK zoos in the UK. They will never know freedom, never roam their native savannahs or forests. Destined to be captive and part of the zoo industry for the rest of their lives.

Many captive-bred big cats are wrenched from their mother’s side to be sent to other zoos, or even considered ‘surplus’ and put down. Zoos hide behind conservation and education claims, rather than admit the truth. Big cats don’t belong in zoos!

This is why I say, ‘no more’. In fact, I shout it. With your help, we must give voice to our outrage so everyone will hear. Your gift can help us take urgent action to stop the misery.

Born Free might be small, but we challenge the multi-billion-pound global zoo industry, starting here in the UK. It is time to stop breeding animals who have no chance of freedom, ever. Our vision is a world where big cats are free to roam the wild, not imprisoned in zoos and put on display. But, we can’t do it without your help.
