WILL Wins Election Integrity Case

WILL wins lawsuit against Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) over unlawful delegation of power and duty 

A Waukesha County Circuit Court sided with WILL against WEC. On behalf of our client, we alleged that WEC commissioners unlawfully delegated their duty to review and decide complaints against local election officials to Megan Wolfe, WEC’s administrator, a power statutorily reserved exclusively for the bipartisan group of WEC commissioners. 

New Voter ID Report & What You Need To Know

WILL released a new report detailing the extent to which more than 140,000 Wisconsin voters can vote in the 2024 Presidential Election without an ID. Voters can self-identify as “Indefinitely Confined,” allowing them to continually receive an absentee ballot without ever showing an ID. 

WILL Research Director, Will Flanders, stated, “Confidence in our elections continues to be dangerously low in Wisconsin and across the country. Voter ID is a popular and well-executed way to keep our elections secure and free of fraud. While the Governor refused to fix this loophole in the years since 2020, efforts must be made by local election clerks to resolve it as much as possible.”

While there is no concrete evidence of fraudulent votes under the indefinitely confined status, it poses a risk to election integrity by allowing many individuals to vote without providing identification.

To address this issue, Wisconsin should follow the example of other states and implement commonsense changes to the process for obtaining this status. Previous legislative attempts to close this loophole were subsequently vetoed by Governor Evers. Additionally, Wisconsin should continue to remove individuals from the indefinitely confined list if they fail to renew their status after not voting in an election.

WILL FILES AMICUS BRIEF IN FEDERAL COURT TO PROTECT GIRLS AT SCHOOL

WILL has filed an Amicus Brief in a case currently before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals that challenges the new Title IX rule by the Biden-Harris Administration. We filed the brief on behalf of a high school girl who suffered an egregious privacy violation while in the girls’ locker room at her high school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. WILL’s brief urges the Court to invalidate the new rule and to consider the harm it will cause to girls like our client. 

WILL Education Counsel, Cory Brewer, stated, “The new Title IX rule threatens the privacy of girls nationwide, and it leaves them vulnerable to traumatic and unsafe events.

"For the sake of all students, particularly young girls, we need to restore Title IX to its intended function.”
